Baku Business University was established in 1993. It is a private higher education institution that trains highly qualified economic specialists under the conditions of transition to a market economy. The transition to a market economy created a great need for specialists with a new way of thinking. Baku Business University plays an important role in solving these problems. In 1993, in accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Education, it began its activity by the Resolution No. 204 of the Cabinet of Ministers. In 2016, it was granted an indefinite license. Currently, the University provides education in 18 specialties across 2 faculties and 8 departments. The academic staff consists of 126 professors and lecturers.

Our graduates work in various fields, including the public and private sectors, as well as in independent business and service areas. In the training of highly qualified specialists, a distinguished academic staff with deep theoretical knowledge and extensive practical experience makes great efforts. Baku Business University has a rich library. Our students enjoy working in the library related to their specialties. It contains countless books, periodicals, audiovisual and computer-based information. The University has a modern computer center, language laboratories, specialized laboratories equipped with audio-video and other modern technologies, a sports complex and assembly hall, and a printing house for producing various educational materials. The "Audit" journal, consisting of 6–7 printed sheets, is published quarterly at the University. To organize students’ scientific activities, the Student Scientific Society operates at BBU, along with research centers conducting economic and social studies. The University organizes conferences, symposiums, scientific seminars, and lectures on many important topics useful for the business community. Legal basis Baku Business University was established in 1993 based on the scientific research and studies of a group of leading economists of our republic starting from 1989, and was officially registered on March 13, 1993, by Decision No. 7/3 of the State Higher Expert Commission under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, beginning its activity with institute status. It was officially registered with university status on October 11, 1997, by Decision No. 204 of the Cabinet of Ministers. Based on the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Education granted the University a license (special permission) and recommended training of specialists at bachelor’s and master’s levels. On January 19, 2016, Baku Business University was granted an indefinite license by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By Order No. 75 of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 26, 2017, Baku Business University was awarded a 5-year certificate (valid until 2022) dated July 7, 2017, registration number 013
